In November, I made a spontaneous trip to Chicago. I’ve been wanting to visit the city for as long as I can remember. Initially, I wanted to travel up north to visit my friends but I changed my mind last minute and decided to book a flight to Chicago instead. I was thinking about going solo but I figured it would be more exciting to explore the city with some good company. And who better to ask than one of my closest friends and travel buddy, Karen Ko. It was definitely one of the best impulsive decision I had made.
The city was everything I expected it to be, if not better. I visited New York City the year before and thought that it was one of the most beautiful cities I’ve seen in a while. That was until I visited Chicago. Both of these metropolitan cities are unique in its own way but I’d like to say that Chicago is more fit for my personal preferences. For one thing, the city isn’t as hectic and bustling as New York city is. All of the people that we encountered during our trip were especially friendly and inviting!
Karen and I stayed at an Airbnb apartment located in West Town/Noble Square, which was a convenient location near downtown and nearby public transportations. Our host, Mookie, was super hospitable and welcoming! His apartment was spacious, clean, and modern. I really recommend staying at his place if anyone is interested in visiting Chicago sometime in the near future.
We stayed a total of five days and explored different areas of the city each day. Personally, the highlight of the trip was when it snowed our second day there. It was my first time experiencing snowfall and it was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, I was not prepared for it, but I would relive the moments again. It was worth walking through the piercing cold wind with my soaked boots and frozen toes.
I would definitely visit Chicago again. Preferably, during spring or fall season because I heard it’s especially beautiful during that time of year.
I hope you enjoyed reading and visualizing fragments of my trip through this post! It was definitely nostalgic compiling all the pictures and recalling events of the trip. Till next week!
